The challenge of this design was to manage the transition between the large-scale park landscape and the more small-scale character of the Health Garden where the new building is located. This was done by building a solid yet see-through red brick wall at the boundary between the two park areas. The windows have come from the city’s old gas company offices and have been given a new life.
The Health Garden and Orangery in Tivoli Park are the result of a unique networking project involving several of the city council’s departments plus various local associations that work in the field of sustainability. Nature has a healing effect on people suffering from stress and this is a place where local residents can come and actively participate in gardening work or just be in the natural surroundings. The Health Garden is open to everyone and acts as an activity centre and workplace, a pleasant experience and a healing environment. Kristianstad is located in southern Sweden in the county of Skåne. Kristianstad is Skåne’s fourth largest city.
