In 2017, the Cultural Centre and Ronneby municipality were given the assignment of developing a regional art centre: a place to exhibit, teach and disseminate good art.
In order to meet the requirements for this regional centre for contemporary art, the existing premises are in need of upgrading in terms of accessibility, air conditioning and technical solutions. Ronneby Art Centre will be one of southern Sweden’s largest galleries with its two spacious art galleries of 1600 m2 each. The entire building is 4000 m2 including a restaurant, painting workshop, print workshop, office and auditorium.
In 2018, the Ronneby Cultural Centre was granted funding from the Swedish Housing Agency for renovation, rebuilding and improving accessibility. The rebuilding project is expected to begin in 2020.
